Heuristic and Access Category under Exchange 5.5
In Exchange 5.5 environments, all object attributes are characterized by to values: Heuristic and Access Category. These values
determine if a given attribute is an operational attribute, how it is replicated between Exchange 5.5 servers and how is generally able to access it.
Both values are bit fields which are specified in the schema definition of each attributes. The bits have the following meaning:
Heuristic
| Bit 0 | 0: Attribute is replicated between sites 1: Attribut wird nciht zwischen Sites repliziert |
| Bit 1 | 0: Attribute is not visible over the LDAP protocol 1: Attribute is visible for anonymous and authenticated LDAP clients |
| Bit 2 | 0: Authenticated clients cannot access the attribute 1: Authenticated clients can access the attribute, anonymous clients are blocked |
| Bit 3 | 0: It is NOT an operation attribute 1: It is an operational attribute |
| Bit 4 | 0: Attribute is NOT visible in the Exchange 5.5 Admin under DS-Site-Configuration -> Attributes 1: Attribute is visible in the Exchange 5.5 Admin under DS-Site-Configuration -> Attributes |
Acess Category
| 0: | Only the system can change the attribute |
| 1: | Only clients with admin access can change the attribute |
| 2: | clients with user access level can change the attribute |
| 3: | Only clients with permission admin access can change the attribute |
