Attributes for Exchange 5.5 Mailboxes : Alt-Recipient
This is the LDAP distinguished name of another recipient object. All mail for the mailbox is redirected to this recipient object.

This can also be a distribution list or an external custom recipient - but you cannot enter just a normal mail address in this field: the Alt-Recipient has to be an LDAP-Name of another object from your own Exchange directory. Whether the re-addressing of incoming mail is a real redirection or just a copy for each mail to the other recipient is determined by the attribute Deliver-And-Redirect.
When you change this attribute, the Exchange system automatically creates an according backlink attribute (in Alt-Recipient-BL) for the particular object which was entered here. So you can check this backlink attribute of our mailbox to check if it is used as a redirection destination for another mailbox.
